Flow cytometry result:
An abnormal cell population is present with bright CD45 intensity and low to intermediate side scatter, and represents approximately 16% of total cells analyzed. The abnormal cells are positive for CD33, CD4, CD7, CD11b, CD13 (partial, 23%), CD71, CD38, CD58, CD61 (partial, 21%), CD117 (variable and partial, 60%), HLA-DR (variable and partial, 20%), CD34 (minimal, 11%); they are negative for B-cell and other T-cell or myelomonocytic markers.
Diagnosis: Myeloid leukemia associated with Down syndrome
There is no significance to differentiate MDS from AML in Down syndrome pt, therefore there is no 20% cutoff for this diagnosis.
